Tooth Colored Fillings

One of the most common restorative dental treatments is the filling.  Used to fix most cavities and build up lost tooth structure prior to crown placement, most dental patients receive at least one filling in their lifetime.  Traditionally, fillings have been made of gold, silver, or some other metal mixture such as amalgam.

With today’s modern materials, we are able to offer our patients tooth colored fillings which are life-like and blend in well with natural tooth structure.  These restorations are made of strong composite resin and are customized to match the natural shade of your teeth.  Tooth colored fillings are safe, effective, and far more aesthetically pleasing than metal.

Amalgam Removal

If you have old amalgam fillings, we highly recommend having them professionally removed by the Doctors at Beverly Hills Aesthetic Dentistry.  Despite the many conflicting reports on whether or not the mercury containing fillings place you at high risk for developing serious debilitating conditions, one thing is for certain, they definitely expand, break teeth, leak and expose tooth structure to recurrent decay over time.

Removing amalgam fillings is complex and requires a high degree of skill in treatment planning a new restoration. Proper care and handling of the removal process is key to successful treatment.  Our expertly trained restorative dentists can safely and skillfully remove your amalgam filling and help you on your way back to optimal health.

Please schedule a consultation with our doctors and team right away to discuss the best treatment plan for your old amalgam fillings.

Crowns

If a tooth is damaged or cracked, and a filling is not the best treatment, an excellent solution is to crown, or “cap” the tooth.  A crown can also be used to support the end of a dental bridge, restore chips or discolorations, and improve the general structure of the tooth or restore tooth structure over implants.  Once the doctor has prepared the tooth and made a mold for the dental laboratory, a natural-looking crown is permanently cemented over the existing prepared tooth or implant.  Although receiving a crown requires at least two appointments under usual circumstances, we provide patients with custom temporary crowns to cover the prepared teeth until the permanent crown cementation visit.

Call our office to find out if crowns are the right treatment for you.

Bridges

When you are missing a tooth or several teeth, but not such extensive tooth loss as to require dentures, a dental bridge can be an effective answer to filling in the gaps.  A dental bridge uses healthy teeth on either side of the empty space where teeth are missing to lend support and a “false” tooth is fused between the two ends covered in crowns.  Bridges can be made of gold, porcelain fused to a metal substructure, or metal-free.

Unlike dentures, bridges are permanently cemented into the mouth.  As with all restorations, proper dental hygiene will afford a nice longevity.

If you have lost or missing teeth and would like to close the gaps, call our office to see if a dental bridge is the right treatment for you.
